Yep! It's Beck! Just bought this cd today, haven't gotten the chance to listen to it yet, but it features the catchy song that i would assume everyone who's heard of Beck knows, E-Pro! Download if you please.
Ah, one of the legendary bands of the hardcore punk period! The band formed in 1980, when the punk scene first began, and broke up in 1983, 2 years before it had ended. Their iconic song "Straight Edge" became the basis of the straight edge movement. What more needs to be said? Download this shit!

Download Link for ALL the above albums is right here!!!
I didn't really have the opportunity to listen to all of them yet, but they do contain majority of the band's best songs, so you know they gotta be good!
This is the classic rock opera by Pink Floyd, focusing on feelings of isolation. It was also one of my favorite albums as a child, but this could be due in large point because of the lyrics "we don't need no education". I have since learned that I do in fact need an education. Download links above and below.
So this is My Chemical Romance's first album, which was released on indie label Eyeball Records and produced by lead singer of Thursday, Geoff Rickly. Personally, I don't think it's nearly as good as their later records, but there are a few utterly brilliant tracks, and a few pretty good tracks. There is also the one song I can't stand by MCR on this album - which is Cubicles. And that's because its nauseating to listen to. Anyways, I say download and listen to one of my favorite records. :D
So this is volumes 3 and 4 in Thrice's elemental masterpiece, The Alchemy Index. Holy shiiiit is it good. I can't really put into words say, how much I love and appreciate the Earth EP. I will say though that Moving Mountains is amazing, and is based on a passage in Corinthians. And it's lovely. These discs make my heart happy. That is all.
This is the first album by the popular Canadian band, Moist. It was there highest selling record, and it's pretty damn decent. Especially for a discount bin find at a used record store. My favorite track still has to be the title track, Silver. Good stuff. If this has meaning to you- after Moist broke up, lead singer David Usher went on to have a successful solo career as well.
Here's the Test Icicles one and only album, For Screening Purposes Only. It's awesome and wholly unique. If you like British indie rock, or dance punk, this should be required listening. :D Also, their name sounds like the word 'testicles'.

This is, without a doubt, my all time favorite record by any band or artist ever. For realz. I could gush and gush but there's no need. I love this record with all my little blackened (uber lame) heart. If this record were a boy, I would marry that boy and make sweet, sweet love to it 3 times a day. AND bear it's children.
Okay, so the truth is, I'm not generally the biggest listener of live albums. But I listened to this one a whoole lot. That is in part due to the fact that the last song, Maybe Memories, breaks down into Refused's classic, New Noise. And I really do enjoy that song a lot. So this is great as fuck. And if you like The Used, it's definitely worth having. Awesome.
That's some low quality album artwork - and I don't care! Hahaha. Anyways, this is The Donnas' sixth studio album... which is shocking because I didn't know they had that many albums. So it's a request my friend made however long ago, and here it is now. Enjoy.
Joy of joys- here's the first My Chemical Romance live album! Yay! It's not made up of a complete set like The Black Parade Is Dead!, but it is actually a collection of audio tracks from various live performances on tv and the intarwebs. My favorite of these live tracks is The Ghost Of You, because its much more raw than the glossed over album version. It also contains two demos and one b-side. Not going to lie, the b-side and the demo for Bury Me In Black are two of my favorite MCR songs ever. So yes. Enjoy!
So here's volumes 1 and 2 of Thrice's very epic The Alchemy Index, a collection of four EP's, each one based on one of the four elements (air, earth, water, fire). Not to be confused with the work of Earth, Wind, and Fire. My favorite EP in the series is Water, and it's here in all it's glory. However, the entire body of work is amazing. So enjoy this until I post Volumes 3 and 4.
This is the debut full length by Spinnerette, otherwise known as Brody Dalle and some dudes. This album sounds like what would happen if The Distillers had hot sweaty sex in the back of a pick up with Queens Of The Stone Age. WAIT. That's essentially what did happen. And it fucking rules. And because of that, a 13 and 14 year old me is holding hands and skipping to the beat. Download link in titles above and below.
This album fucking rocks. For some things I feel the need to yammer on, but with this I can safely say that this album fucking rocks, and that Taking Back Sunday are beyond awesome. Enjoy.
This is the latest release by the Canadian former hardcore, now indiefolkwhateverthefuck band, Attack In Black. To be honest, I haven't listened to it much. It seems more airy and spacy than their previous CD, Marriage, which had a thicker, warmer tone overall. It isn't unlike completely unlike The Curve Of The Earth, but has a much glossier sound to it. I don't know what I'm on about. I'm pulling all of this out of my ass.
Don't you enjoy how the album art is smooshed? That's because the stupid cover is shaped stupid. And I didn't feel like properly converting the measurements so FUCK YAS. Anyways, here's the new Jonasshole album, it's out tomorrow. I haven't listened to the whole thing yet but I will say that Don't Charge Me For The Crime is ridiculously great and needs to be appreciated by everyone a bit more. Also Miley is on this, and I tried listening to that but Nick and her started the song with the vocal strain they mistake for passion so I switched the track. So yeah. Also, I am not liking the country vibes I'm getting off a few songs, pretty effing lame. Anyways. Dig in, fatties.
Yay! Leaked! I've been waiting for this one for awhile. It is definitely a departure from their older work, but I'm fucking digging it a whole lot. Some people aren't though, so I have to say you need to really hear the whole thing before passing judgment. Also, the opening bass lines of the lead track, Old Crows, was totally effing ripped from the Joy Division song, No Love Lost. Seriously, listen to it here. If that gets acknowledged, I'll be cool with it. Until then, I may be irritated. But yes, enjoy the link. OH! If the last three songs happen to show up all as Heading For The Sun, change the last two to what's referenced below. Don't bitch, it's a leak.
So this is the demo by Anthony Green's high school band, Audience Of One. They're actually a decent high school band too, which is all sorts of shocking. So the demo doesn't have any official name and the songs don't have any names either, but it's still decent. Also I'm stoked because my obsessive compulsive Anthony Green discography is near completion. So I'm going to be bombarding this poor blog with that. :D
This is the first EP released by the super great and wonderful Circa Survive. Only 3,000 copies were made and the songs Act Appalled and The Great Golden Baby were on their debut full length, Juturna. It is good but just hints at the brilliance of this band.
So The Pretty Reckless... who are they? Good question. They're this brand new female fronted band from New York who sound very similar to early Yeah Yeah Yeahs. They kick ass. Oh. And they're led by Taylor Momsen, of Gossip Girl Fame. Hahh. No seriously though. They rock. Check out the video below.
Check out some of the tracks below. Demos and live rips, oh yess.
Yay Parklife! This is Blur's third studio album, best known for the song Girls & Boys. It's also the first Blur album I ever owned. It's solid, and considered one of the best brit pop albums evar. So yes. Epic. This version I have actually has one of the American release Girls & Boys b-sides on it. I don't know whats up with that. Moar Blur to enjoy! Dig.
Debut full length by my favorite band that isn't My Chemical Romance, or Cancer Bats, or Joy Divison? HELLS YES. It's a solid album of joyful emo-ness, and I listen to it ALL THE FUCKING TIME. It does feature 4 of the 5 (technically 6) songs on the EP, but they've been recorded again for the album, to fit in with the overall sound. It's fantastical. Also the last track features guest vocals of the wonderful Andrew Neufeld, of Comeback Kid fame, who incidentally is the brother of Sick City's drummer, Joel Neufeld. Trufacts.
This is Blur's album, Blur. It is a good album. It features their best known song this side of the pond, Song 2. If you don't recognize the name of that song, lemme refresh your memory. *Ahem*.... WOOHOO! AND I FEEL HEAVY METAL! WOOHOO! AND I'M PINS AND I'M NEEDLES! ALL OF THE TIME BUT I'M NEVER SURE WHY I NEED YOU- PLEASED TO MEET YOU!... so yeah. Blur.
So in case you don't know already, Blaqk Audio are the side project of Davey Havok and Jade Puget, of AFI fame. They are Electro Boy. They are Electro Girl. Tbh, I actually dug this album moar than AFI's last album, and I dig AFI. So yanno. The only single off of this album was Stiff Kittens, and it didn't have a video which makes me very sad but oh well. Enjoy the awesome electronica album, all!
Holy shit on a stick! I finally got this up here! This is the Sequoia Throne Remix Ep (as the title would suggest HAHAHA =_=) and it is only available on iTunes. But hey. Fuck iTunes. I haven't found this anywhere else on the internetz so lets just say that A:M rocks balls. All the remixes are hella good, but the first one is particularily hella good. So enjoy that. Also metal nerdoids, take heed: Devin Townsend of Strapping Young Lad did the third remix on this nifty little EP. So dig that, yo. Also the album art is a tad weird. It's more yellowish, but this was the best quality picshurr I could find.
So here is one of many Michael Jackson compilation albums. This is the Canadian version. It has a lot of his greatests most awesomest songs. So ya. Dig.
I'm just stoked to have actually found a version of the album art on the interweb. So don't mutter to yourself about the size of it, mmkay? Anyways. A couple of years back my friend and I snuck into a local bar to see Cancer Bats play. Naturally, they were super epic and swiftly became my favorite band. However that night, another band was on the bill. They were called Sick City, and even though their lead singer was drunk as shit and no one was there, they blew my mind and I had to own their cd. It joined regular rotation with all my MCR cds, and thus I found TWO of my favorite bands in one night. This EP was entirely self released, and the production is lovely and slick as baby oil. Four of five songs off this was rerecorded for their debut full length, Nightlife. But this EP kinda blows those versions totally out of the water. That is all.
So this is a new tour only EP by the Cancer Bats sold only in the UK and Canada. It features 4 new songs which are to be released on the UK reissue of Hail Destroyer at the end of April. It's pretty sick, and features covers of The Faint, Tegan and Sara, and The Murder City Devils. It's being referred to as the Tour Ep, so I've changed all the tagging to that, but when you open it in iTunes, it'll show up as Engine Skull EP. So deal. :D
So here's a couple of great tracks I've gotten hold of due to the glory of the internetz. The PATD one I should have uploaded months ago, yanno, around Halloween, but whatever it's great anytime of the year. So enjoy this one people. It's a pretty good file dump.
All that can truly be said about this song is that it is EPIC LULZ. You need to hear it to believe it. Not to mention Ryan Ross' voice is on clear display, which is pretty awesome if you're a Panic fan.
Who is Tequila Mockingbird you ask? Tequila Mockingbird is the combined awesome power of Nicholas Scimeca, who is apparently a parter of Angels & Kings (Peter Wentz's restaurant whut), and Travis McCoy, of Gym Class Heroes fame. So what about the song then? It's fucking catchy and I can't stop listening to it. Someone around here is gonna kill me.
Toni was the first person to tell me about this band, but it wasn't until I saw them in '07 that I actually started to pay attention. They're kind of a ~supergroup of the Canadian scene~ so to speak, and are notably fronted by Andrew Neufeld of Comeback Kid. But they don't sound like Comeback Kid. Hmm whatever its good music. Download if it interests you.
HOLLA ANOTHER SIDE PROJECT! 3 in one file dump. This one is a-featurin Keith Buckley from Every Time I Die. It's almost like this weird country rock music thing he's doing (holy shit maybe even actual southern rock-esque?) with some old friends that started one night while they were drunk. This is an acoustic version of one of their songs, and it might just be my favorite I've heard. Supremely pretty. No screaming here.
So here is Every Time I Die's debut full length album on Ferret. It's pretty ghetto awesome. Back when they were straightforward metalcore. I'm more of a fan of their work Hot Damn! and forward, but if you are a fan of ETID and/or metalcore, this is basically a must. As well, finding a copy of the album artwork was a real bitch, so I'm sorry for the shit quality.
So still in my "YAY BLINK 182 IS BACK" phase, I have decided to post up their first full length release. So evarbodeh, say hi to Cheshire Cat! What can I say about this record? Well I doubt that by listening to it in 1994 you would have realized just how legendary this band was going to become. Still ultra catchy and funny like Blink have always been, it has the sound typical of pop punks in the early to mid nineties, save for Green Day. Also of note is that Travis Barker is not in the band, so the drumming isn't the typical Blink 182 sound. Still worthy of being in your collection though. So yes. :)
So I don't know what to write about this record, so I'll just copy and paste from the wikipedia article: "Kids for America is the first EP released by American pop punk band Motion City Soundtrack in 2000. The tracks "Cambridge" and "1000 Paper Cranes" were redone and released on I Am the Movie. This release was hand made and according to their official discography, it was limited to 100 copies. The full package includes a disc with only a tiny "MCS," the folded artwork, and a contact/credits card that contained information for booking. This was all housed in a plastic sleeve." So yes, that's that.
So this album was most definitely requested a long time ago. Sorry about that. Anyways, it's pretty awesome and hilariously clever. I really need to listen to Cobra Starship. However, I think this might be one of those things where the people in my life kill me for being a big geek. Whatever. Good stuff. Download link obv. in blog title or link below.
Do you remember Box Car Racer? If you do, AWESOME! If you don't, holy shit I am old. Hahh. This album is the only album of the now defunct Blink 182 side project started by Tom Delonge, featuring Travis Barker on drums. It's almost like +44, except not formed out of depressing necessity. Don't run in fear now though, this is not anything near the overwhelming douchebaggery that was Angels And Airwaves. It was merely a vehicle for Delonge to get out the musical ideas he had that he felt weren't really Blink 182-ish. So instead of being inspired by U2 and The Police, this album was more inspired Rites Of Spring, Embrace, and Fugazi. For the uneducated, those were the orignal emo bands. Yeah. It's their fault.
The special edition of City and Colour's second full-length album Bring Me Your Love. Only 5000 copies are available in North America, plus 1000 in Australia. (I lucked out and spotted one in an HMV today.) The album itself is great, receiving mostly 4-star reviews when it came out last February. This 2-disc version features 2 new songs (Faithless and I Don't Need To Know) and demo versions of all songs except The Girl. The track Sleeping Sickness features Gordon Downie of The Tragically Hip.
Disc 1: Bring Me Your Love 1. Forgive Me 2. Confessions 3. The Death of Me 4. Body in a Box 5. Sleeping Sickness (featuring Gordon Downie) 6. What Makes a Man? 7. Waiting... 8. Constant Knot 9. Against the Grain 10. The Girl 11. Sensible Heart 12. As Much As I Ever Could 13. Faithless (Previously unreleased) 14. I Don't Need to Know (Previously unreleased)
Disc 2: Demos 1. Forgive Me 2. Confessions 3. The Death of Me 4. Body in a Box 5. Sleeping Sickness 6. What Makes a Man? 7. Waiting... 8. Constant Knot (Quiet) 9. Constant Knot (Horns) 10. Against the Grain 11. Sensible Heart 12. As Much As I Ever Could 13. Faithless 14. I Don't Need to Know
So I have been waiting on this album since before anyone fully knew Frank was in this band. Frank you ask? Frank from My Chemical Romance. It's like his angry little hardcore side project. It's sick as fuck. Brutal as fuck. Love it, fuck. This entire album is an exercise in raging hard. If you like it loud, fast, heavy, and angry, this is for you.
Here is the cd single for AFI's song Love Like Winter. It was the second single off of their popular album Decemberunderground. It features a pretty great and low key cover of Jack The Ripper by Morrissey, and a b-side which I have not yet listened to yet. So yes. That's that.
Well it's about time I uploaded this album! I've been meaning to since it leaked in September. Shows how lazy I am. Anyways, what can I say about Demi Lovato? Well she played Itchie, the female lead in Camp Rock. Her album was basically co-written in large part with the Jonas Brothers (the songs they wrote together are arguably the strongest on the record, minus their duet, which is the musical equivalent of a cum fart... well maybe not that bad) because the stuff she personally writes simply wouldn't fly by her target market aka Disney Channel. Does that mean this sucks? No. Far from it. This album is basically full of super awesome girl pop-rock. It's awesome like Paramore's 'Riot', if it had been released on Hollywood Records. It also a includes a song (The Middle) co-written by Kara DioGuardi, the new American Idol judge- and holy shit its a killer track. I basically love it, even including it on my top albums of 2008 list, amongst a bunch of "legitimate" artists. I'm way excited for the deluxe reissue of this album, featuring a Spanish language song and a new song demonstrating the type of music she wants to be playing and will be continuing on with. I'm fucking STOKED. Until then, enjoy! 8D
This is the debut release by "super group" Two Tongues, featuring Max Bemis and Coby Linder of Say Anything, and Chris Conley and Dave Soloway of Saves The Day. Which basically translates into an absolute emo eargasm. My favorite tracks on it are Crawl, Dead Lizard, and Wowee Zowee. Worth downloading? Yes. Worthy BUYING? Most definitely sir. This is just solid songwriting, manifesting itself into GREAT MUSIC. Srs.
"Sorry Rick, I mean Cream of Mushroom." So here is the A:M's first comedy album, and fuck its good. This album was released last year but recorded two months before his death in 2005. Mitch Hedberg was highly influential, and his style is easily likened to Demetri Martin's, who if you simply do not know, was a correspondent on The Daily Show and now has his own show, Important Things With Demetri Martin. This album is fucking funny, not in the way Dane Cook is funny. Yeah. Actually funny.
If you like bands that have heavy screaming with melodic vocals blended in, with seemingly no melody, and breakdowns galore, then you will like this album. Because every band evar like that wants to be Every Time I Die, and wants to record this album. In fact, you can basically break "hardcore" music down into two groups. Bands that want to record Hot Damn! and bands that want to record The Shape of Punk to Come. But those albums have already been recorded, and most of those bands suck. So just save time and download this and the rest of ETID's discography. It'll save you time and it'll be one of the best choices you've ever made. Ever. In life.
Why haven't we posted this already? Oh yeah. We're lazy cunts. That's the one. Anyhoo, if you don't know Lights already, you should, because she is incredibly awesome synth pop that is what she is. GRAMMAR, YOU HAVE BEEN R4P3D. She said it best when she described how she writes songs. "When I write songs I think about how my music makes people feel, and I hope that when it goes into your ears you feel happy. Not sexy happy but apple pie happy." So yeah. Thar ye be.
So it took me long enough right? Anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge fan of Brody Dalle's work, so this is no exception. It's definitely a departure from The Distillers, and you can for sure here her husband's influence on her music (Joshua Homme from Queens Of The Stone Age). Well if you like very bad ass rock and roll tunes, then here's a solid download. OH! I should also mention that this is a completely independant self release, meaning all the money made off this goes back into their band. So in case you want to be a good person, go here and buy it, it has all the songs, hq artwork, and the music video for Ghetto Love.
So in no particular order, here are my most anticipated releases of 2009. I will cross them out as they are released, and then remove the crossing out-ness and link them when they are uploaded. The list might change as album announcements are made, but I doubt I'll re-edit this. Check back for updates, yo:
Yes another file dump. Haha. This one is filled with a bunch of really great gosh darn tracks. As in, listen to them over and over and over and not get sick of them tracks. Yes, it's basically the best file dump evarz.
Excuse me while I coo over the greatness of this track. I've had it in my head ALL day and I'm okay with that. I can literally listen to this over and over and over and it's as good as the first time I heard it. It's LITERALLY the happiest thing I've heard in like, evarz.
Why thank you Strike Gently for ripping this audio. William Beckett did a video of himself covering this song acoustically, and geeeeeeeeez is it pretty. The original of this song is obv. hauntingly beautiful, as it is The Knife, but this is just a pretty little acoustic diddy that can't help but make you smile. Dig eet.
The Mixed Tape is a fucking great song. This is an even better version, IMO. I have actually been meaning to stick this in a file dump since I started this blog, but I just haven't been able to put one together that I felt really suits this song until now. It's the kind of song where you need to close your eyes just to absorb how damn lovely it is.
Another track I've been waiting to share for awhile. Creep is arguably the most recognizable Radiohead song, and for good reason. Dustin Kensrue, being the immense talent that he is, delivers the goods in this cover. It's as haunting and beautiful as the original, and gives me the same shivers. It's also a pretty damn good live rip.
So I have yet to do this! This is a girl I came across on YouTube. She has a beautiful f*cking voice, plays guitar very well, and writes some pretty nifty tunes herself. She definitely falls under the "natural talent" category. Here's a few videos of her doing covers:
"Bill Withers - Ain't No Sunshine"
"Bright Eyes - Lua"
"Nine Inch Nails - Hurt"
The download is full of songs off of her myspace. The link is below or in the blog title. Seriously, this girl is amazing.
Hey remember when Sonny made good music? Yeah! Back when From First To Last were somewhat relevant? Yeah that was a long time ago. Now he's got this solo project, and it kinda sounds like Chris Crocker "music" to me. Emo goes pop fucking TRAINWRECK. Download for lulz.
ScarJo rapes and kills a great and classic Jeff Buckley song. Actually it's not that horrific. She actually has a pretty good voice. It obviously comes nowhere even near the shadow of the original, but its not bad. Too bad she's not a legitamite artist and only does weird ScarJo covers of classic alternative songs.
Also not totally horrific. But this is still the Ocean Avenue dudes. The dudes with the violin and the lead singer who cried when they won a VMA. Those dudes. Thus by default this is totally gay. And thus I love it.
So in honour of one of the greatest pop-punk bands ever doing the good and right thing by getting back together for an album and tour, I present ye with their first EP. Or demo. Whatever. Check out that completely fucking awesome hand drawn cassette tape artwork. Nice. So here it is, before they were Blink 182. And copyright Fags In The Wilderness. And holy crap crow it just dawned on me what a crappy name Blink 182 is. Hahaha. Anyways. LONG LIVE BLINK 182! For real this time. Srsly.
So for my very first post of the year I thought I'd put up something extra special. So hurr it is! Alexisonfire's Math Sheet demos! It's quality is awesomely bad but I think there's most definitely a special novelty to having this in your audio library. If you're an AOF fan, this is a must. If you're not or you haven't heard them before, skip it... at least until you realize they pretty much own life.
